Girl by lily pond / Niña y lirios de agua

The inner gardens of the GAN (Galeria de Arte Nacional) and its lily pond used to be a peaceful place, revered by some caraqueños. I used to hang-out there frequently. The gardens were a natural break for those who got tired of looking at the paintings, like -perhaps- the girl in the photo.  What has become of this museum visitor? By now, she may have children of her own and perhaps she takes them to see Venezuela’s iconic painting “Miranda en la Carraca” by Arturo Michelena.
