The American Prairies

Somewhere in the American Great Plains, Interstate I-70, from Denver to Kansas City (2012) . *

Driving on this freeway that runs through the middle of Kansas State, West to East, is the quintessential driving experience in North America: the coming into contact with a monotonous and infinite vastness. In a quick, 70-miles-per-hour succession you see golden wheat fields, wind farms, slaughterhouses, silos, lonely trees, gas stations and so forth, in an “ad nauseum” repetition. A color palette of fiery tones comes back to life just about the time the sun begins to set. The Great Plains extend far away in the distance; this is as American as it gets. After that lustful sunset, the sad shadows of the night begins to cover the plains, except for the neon lights of a few hotels, restaurants and bars. I-70 is the perfect highway to use your auto cruise control device. But, be careful… you really need to fight off sleepiness! *
