Visual arts & Nature

Both, the observer and the artist are part of nature. Where does that leave the piece of art?

(versión en español abajo) Let us propose the thesis that there is a line that separates Nature from Art. We could say, for example, that Art is humans’ creation while Nature is God’s creation. But, come to think about it, are they really two different things? The Arts -especially  the Visual Arts- are nothing more than an attempt to represent Nature. Also, the act of absorbing Nature or absorbing Art is very similar: you open your eyes , take a big breath and take all what is before your eyes in. Little distinction exists between enjoying a mountain or admiring a painting. This separating line becomes even more blurred when we consider that the painter who paints the tableau is also part of Nature. Thus, here we have Nature representing itself and admiring itself in this unending game of creativity and self contemplation.  At the end of the day, Visual Arts becomes a synonym of Nature and there’s really no line that separates them both, no matter how abstract the painting is*
